Dufranne, Hector

Hector Dufranne(1870-1951), Belgian bass-baritone who enjoyed a long career that took him to opera houses in Europe and US for more than 40 years. He studied at Brussels Conservatory and made his debut in 1896, then sang in the most of the opera houses in Europe. He appeared in several world premieres and created the title roles of operas - Grieselides(Massenet), Pelleas et Melisande, Scarpia of Tosca, Salome(Richard Strauss) etc.
